Getting a track in
Open the upload screen and pick a file, or share one into SailLab from where it already is — a .fit activity straight from Garmin Connect, or any file via the iOS share sheet. Pick the team, boat and timezone, and it's sent for analysis.
Connection drops
note
If the connection drops mid-upload, the file is queued and resumes on its own once you're back online — even if you force-close the app.
Watching it process
A progress screen shows each stage:
- Track read
- Sail analysed
- Wind worked out
- Races found
- Results saved
You can leave the screen; the analysis keeps running. Reopen it from the Sessions list.
If a stage stalls
The screen says so and offers to retry or flag it to us, with the stage and elapsed time filled in. See When something looks wrong.
Processing area
A session that hasn't finished analysing waits in a Processing area at the top of the Sessions tab. It gets its real sailing date once the track has been read. Most sessions take about a minute; a big track can take longer.
Replacing an upload
Uploading the same session twice
SailLab checks a file's contents, not its name, so a duplicate doesn't create a second session. Your own file offers a replace option; if a team-mate already uploaded it, you're told instead.
