Coaching lives in the SailLab web app. If you coach a squad — a class group, a youth squad, a few crews — this is how you see their sailing in one place and debrief it side by side.
Early days
Coaching is new and deliberately small: a group, an invite, and the squad's sailing in one place. There are no coach tools for input yet — no notes, marks or annotations — so what you see is exactly what the crews see. If you coach and need something, write to feedback@saillab.app. This is the part of SailLab we most want to build with the people using it.
A group is what grants sight
A coaching group holds the teams you coach. You own it, and being in it is the only thing that lets you see a team's sailing. You never become a member of their team.
Create a group from the Coaching page and give it a name.
Inviting a team
Create an invite on the group's manage tab and send the link to whoever runs the team. Once they accept, that team's sails appear in your group.
Who can accept, and why
Only the team's owner or an admin. Accepting shares every member's sailing, so it isn't one crew member's decision. The backend enforces this.
What you see
The group's sessions, races and tracks — every crew's sailing, newest first, exactly as the crew sees it. Nothing a coach does changes the team's data.
The default view is the fleet
The group's session list shows fleet sails by default — days when more than one of your crews was out together. A toggle shows everything.
Ending it
Either side can end it at any time without asking the other: detach the team from your group, or the team leaves. Access stops immediately and a coach keeps nothing.
