Wind direction

VMG, upwind/downwind splits and race legs all depend on wind direction, which SailLab estimates from your track. It's usually right, but a shifty day or a short session with few tacks can throw it off.
- Numbers look off? Open the session and set the wind direction yourself.
- Wait a few minutes: mark positions and lap counts sharpen as the rest of the fleet's tracks land.
- Still wrong once the fleet is in? Report the session.
After a wind change the whole session view reloads on its own once reprocessing finishes — speed and VMG, fleet comparison, map, race metrics.
A missed or wrong race
A race split in two, one missed, or a mark misplaced is usually a wind problem underneath. Correct the wind direction first, then check again once other boats have finished processing. If it's still wrong, report it.
Reporting a session
Every session has a report button. Pick a category and write a couple of sentences on what looks off — which race, which leg, what you expected.

A report opens a chat thread under My Submissions on your Account page. Every report is read by a person.

A stuck or failed upload
The upload progress screen shows each stage. If it stalls, the screen says so and offers to retry or flag it to us, with the details filled in.
Hitting a limit
During the beta there are caps on how much one team or one person can put in. Reach one and the upload is refused with a message that names the limit.

The monthly counts start over on the first of each month. If a limit is in the way of something real — a regatta week, a club fleet uploading through one team — write to us and say so.

SailLab is in open beta. Wind estimates, race detection and edge cases will sometimes be wrong. Report it and say what you expected to see.
